Carter: Deal's Education Task Force Is an Admission of Failure

Statement

Date: Oct. 22, 2014
Location: Atlanta, GA

Sen. Jason Carter said that Gov. Deal's plan for an education task force is an admission that the governor failed Georgia's schools and has no plans to fix the problems he created.

"Gov. Deal has had four years to get education right. Now, two weeks before an election, all he can offer is a half-formed notion that he'll scrap everything and start over again.

"The governor's task force is a simple admission that he wreaked havoc on our schools over the last four years and has no real plan to reverse course.

"Voters will remember the governor's record: $4 billion in cuts, fewer teachers, larger classrooms and increased local property taxes across Georgia."
